    Perform the following steps to create a new spreadsheet and enter data.
     1. Open Microsoft Excel.
     2. Open a new, blank workbook. Save it as Kids_Bookstore in the same folder as your Chapter 6 data files.
     3. Begin entering the column headings. In cell A1, enter the word “Inventory”.
     4. In cell A2, enter the words “Qty on Hand”.
     5. In cell A3, enter the words “Unit Price”.
     6. In cell A4, enter the words “Total Value”.
     7. Enter the data below beginning in cell B2. Do not worry about formatting the data at this time. No data will be entered in the Retail Price or Total Value columns.

    2. Formatting a Worksheet and Summing Numbers

    Perform the following steps to give the worksheet a more professional appearance.
     1. Open Microsoft Excel if necessary.
     2. Open Kids_Boostore if necessary.
     3. Add the word “Total” to cell A11.
     4. Use the AutoSum feature to sum the Qty on Hand column.
     5. Make all column headings that consist of more than one word appear on two lines in the same cell.
     6. Insert a new row above row 1.
     7. In cell A1, enter “Kids Korner Bookstore”.
     8. Merge cells A1 through D1.
     9. Format the numbers in the Wholesale Price column with a dollar sign and two decimal places.
    10. Change the font of the title row to Arial, 18 pt.
    11. Center the column headings in columns B, C, and D.
    12. Center the data in column B.
    13. Add a border to the outside edges of the data table (box border).
    14. Add shading of your choice to the title row.
    15. Bold cells A12 and B12.
    16. Add a thick line to the bottom of rows A1, A2, and A11. Remember to select the range of cells in each row where the border needs to be placed.
    17. Your worksheet should appear similar to the following example.
    18. Save the changes to Kids_Bookstore.
    19. Print the worksheet
    20. Close Kids_Bookstore and close Microsoft Excel.
